Some Diseases from Africa
So you have just come back from a great African safari adventure, and have managed to avoid some fierce animals such as the Lions. But were you thinking about disease prevention, well you should be. africa is a mythical continent, but like any other area in the globe it has its illnesses and outbreaks. So let us have a look at some of the more widespread diseases in Africa.
Malaria
Malaria has to be on of Africas biggest killers, it is estimated that around 3 thousand children die everyday from Malaria in Africa and most of it is transmitted my mosquitoes. Not only that, but it probably infects hundreds if not thousands of more people. So make sure that if you are travelling to Africa, you get hold of the correct Malaria tablets.
AIDs
Africa in all likelihood has the most widespread eruption of AIDS. There is no known cure or vaccination for AIDs, so you should make sure that if you are having any kind of sexual contact with anyone, that you should bring your own protection. Besides something like this, depending on where you are actually going, especially if it a poor area there is in high probability a shortage of needles, so they reuse them. Remember to bring your own needles as you never acknowledge what may happen to you.
Polio
Once again another widespread disease that cannot genuinely be treated in Africa is Polio. This is on most occasions usually transmitted by close contact with people or contaminated food or water. If you do happen to get this disease then there is a big chance that you may never fully recover. The best thing is to have a polio vaccination before you travel anywhere.
Cholera
Finally we look at cholera, usually transmitted through contaminated food or water. Symptoms are watery stools and vomiting. If left untreated the disease will promptly dry up you and you could end up suffering from things such as muscle cramps or even a coma.
